Proper care extends the life of your shoes and maintains their protective properties – so please be sure to follow the advice below.
Here is an overview of the most important things to avoid:
No washing machine
Do not wash work shoes in the washing machine – the outer material, adhesives and protective properties may be damaged.
No DIY modifications
Do not make any alterations to your work shoes yourself – any changes to the shoe will invalidate the certification. Unauthorised modifications include, for example, cutting off parts or replacing the original insoles. Orthopaedic adjustments may only be carried out by qualified personnel using certified systems.
No “constant stress” on the shoes
Ensure your workplace is as clean and tidy as possible. Do not store shoes permanently in areas where they are unnecessarily exposed to dirt, chemicals or mechanical stress.
Our tip: Having a second pair of work shoes to change into significantly extends the lifespan of your shoes.
No quick-drying on the radiator
Leather shoes in particular need time to dry so that the leather does not become brittle. Drying them on the radiator or in the sun is therefore a no-go. Work shoes should be dried gently using special shoe dryers. If such a dryer is not available, dry the insoles separately and stuff the shoes with newspaper.
Follow these guidelines and consult our shoe care guide in the STRAUSS Online Shop to find out how to clean, care for and store your shoes correctly, so you can enjoy your work shoes for as long as possible.
